In 1983 Bill and Muriel Gillenwater founded B & M Plastics, Inc now ( BMG, Inc.) in Mt. Vernon, Indiana in response to a need for reprocessing thermoplastics for General Electric’s Polymer Division. With years of experience with GEP Lexan, Bill Gillenwater and his wife Muriel were the natural choice for GEP – thus, B&M Plastics, Inc. was born.
Initially B&M Plastics functioned as a captive processor for GEP, with services that included compounding, grinding, pulverizing, repackaging, railcar unloading, blending, demetalizing and Q.C. product testing. In 1998 the Company moved into marketing its own high quality recycled/wide-spec resins, custom engineered to meet the color and property requirements of the customer in both large and small lot sizes. B&M Plastics also processed post industrial plastics to produce plastic pellets for closely prescribed uses in over 500 colors. More than half of B&M’s PC compounds used wide-spec or recycled material; moreover, B&M Plastics had the capacity to produce blends of wide-spec and virgin PC that are indistinguishable from virgin materials. Beyond proprietary polycarbonate compounds, B&M also produced ABS, polypropylene, nylon and alloy products for customers located in 38 states, Mexico, Canada, and the Far East. Industries serviced by B&M included automotive, agricultural, electrical/electronics, consumer, home appliance, lawn and garden, marine, and aerospace.
B&M Plastics had developed a sophisticated Quality Assurance Lab to test and qualify raw materials and finished goods for clarity, strength, flexibility, and flow properties. With two injection molding presses, the QA Lab also tested mold filling properties at various temperatures and pressures to find the ideal material performance standard. B&M’s QA Lab was also equipped to test on line production as well as to assist outside customers with a variety of different tests: Flame Resistance, Melt Flow, Izod Impact, Heat Deflection, FT-IR Scanning, Tensile/Flex Modulus, Color Matching, etc.

BMG, Inc. diversified into manufacturing, sales and warehouse space located in Mt. Vernon, New Harmony and Evansville, Indiana as well as Madisonville Kentucky and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Our team has extensive experience in Raw Material qualification, certification, sourcing, and cost out initiatives within the plastic industry. IFC could also be utilized as a quick response intermediary to address Customer contacts, issues, or concerns between Suppliers and End Users for this area.
